.Flow Chart.

Here is the flow chart of PIC and Visual Basic that I used during the implementation of my project.

Visual Basic is used to enter data to the system and send to PIC Transmitter module.

Visual Basic of Transmitter

The data will be entered into PIC Microcontroller to control the PIC hardware.

PIC Microcontroller of Transmitter module

Then, the data will be send to RF Transmitter and the transmitter will send to the RF Receiver.

RF Receiver will send the data received from RF Transmitter to the PIC Microcontroller.

PIC Microcontroller of Receiver module

PIC will send the data received from RF Receiver to Visual Basic.

.Block Diagrams.

I'm sorry I forgot to show the block diagram for my project, Wireless Security in Data Communication. For this project, I have two block diagrams, which is for transmitter and receiver. Both have the same function and differ only in transmit and receive. The block diagrams as shown below :-

Transmitter Module

Input: Adaptor (power supply), voltage regulator and computer (Visual Basic)
Output: Red LED, LCD, buzzer and RF transmitter.
Medium: Radio Frequency to send data from RF transmitter to RF receiver.

Receiver Module

Input: Adaptor, voltage regulator and RF Receiver
Output: Red LED, LCD, buzzer and computer (Visual Basic)

.max232 - USB Converter (UC00B)

At first, I’m having some trouble interfacing the laptop USB and PIC using serial port. But, at the end, my supervisor has helped in solving the problem by suggesting me use a USB to UART converter (UC00B)

USB to UART Converter (UC00B)

Introduction

UC00B is USB to UART converter that provide straight forward interface to most of microcontroller UART pin. It offers the replacement to the traditional method of serial communication. Conventionally, most serial interface from microcontroller to computer is done through serial port (DB9). However, since computer serial port used RS232 protocol and microcontroller used TTL (Transistor-transistor Logic) UART, a level shifter is needed between these standards. Recently, serial port of computer have been phase out and been replaced by USB. Still, many choose USB to Serial converter to obtain virtual serial port. The level shifter is still necessary for UART interface.

UC00B offers the simplest interface for microcontroller to communicate with computer.

Description

This product offers low cost, easy to use USB to UART converter to user. It has been designed with capabilities and features of:
  • Low cost USB to UART converter
  • Easy to use, aiming development between computer and microcontroller, 3.3V or 5V logic.
  • USB powered, no external source is required to use this converter
  • 5V from USB port is available for user
  • USB Specification v1.1
  • Tested with the baud rate up to 115200 bps.
  • Low cost USB to UART converter
  • Configurable for 3.3V/5V UART interface.
  • Easy to use 6 pin interface: TXD, RXD, GND, DTR, RTS and VCC (5V or 3.3V).
  • Plug and Play

.Buying components.

On Saturday, 31 March ago, I went to Jalan Pasar to buy the components needed for my project. Below is a list of components that I have been purchased.
  • Capacitors
  • Resistors
  • TMC-500PN Adaptor
  • LCD 16x2 JHD162A
  • MAX 232
  • IC Socket 16pin
However, there are several components that hasn't purchased yet. Insha’Allah, maybe another round.

.RF Module (Radio Frequency) to send data.

Assalamualaikum. Hye! Today, I have received a message from my supervisor, Sir Saiful Yusri regarding the RF module to send data which I will be use for this project. He gave me a website that I can refer to get an appropriate RF module. Together with this, I attached with the mentioned website.

RF module

This is the description and the features included in set of the RF module.

Description

RF module is an open source microcontroller Do it Yourself kit. This PIC microcontroller based project reveal the possibility for RF module to transmit serial data (low speed) wirelessly between microcontrollers. Of course, it can be modified to be wireless platform transferring any type of data. Cytron Technologies uploaded this project with the aim to assist hobbyist and students to pick up embedded system application and development.

Features
  • RF module (Transmitter and Receiver)
  • 7 segment display
  • Industrial Grade PCB with proper labelling
  • ICSP socket to ease the loading program
  • Open Source DIY kit (schematic, source code and explanation)
  • Simple, fast and reliable learning tools

.Abstract.

Now i will explain briefly about this project.

This project is used to communicate or transmit a text message from one place to another place through wireless. The text message is encrypted by using the Microcontroller and the encrypted message was transmitted through wireless. At the receiver end, the signal was received by the receiver module and the analog signal was fed to the Microcontroller and it was decrypted by the Microcontroller and the message was displayed on a computer by using Visual Basic. The status of transmitter and receiver will be shown in LCD. The Microcontroller is used to do the above work. It gets data from the computer by using Visual Basic and encrypts with a private algorithm and at the receiver end the Microcontroller decrypts it with the same algorithm and display the data over the LCD display. For this project, it was separated to two parts which is hardware and software. In hardware part, it is operating using transmitter and receiver module through by RF (Radio Frequency) module. For software part, it is using PIC Microcontroller for the encryption the data and Visual Basic using view a data encryption and decryption a data in computer. This project has encryption data information from hackers.

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!

Welcome to imzimafyp.blogspot.com. Here is the blog created by me for my final year project at Universiti Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute. For my Engineering Technology in Data Communication course, I have decided to design a wireless security in data communication.

I choose to implement this project because it gave me a chance to apply the knowledge associated to network security that I have learned . Network security must be addressed to prevent an unauthorized access to important resources or damage to computers using wireless network.

This is my first post. So, start blogging!
